Academics

As a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Queen of Peace Catholic School adheres to the guidelines and guidance of the TCCBED and the local Catholic Schools Office when planning and administering the academic program.

The curriculum utilized at Queen of Peace Catholic School is the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, which has Catholic Identity integrated into all content areas.  In addition, teachers are trained in a specific literacy program designed to target instruction to meet the specific needs of students.  This program, combined with the experience and resources available to teachers make for a full and rich education for Queen of Peace Catholic School students.

Students are supported in their educational journey by the integration of academic support materials which include technology, manipulatives, textbooks, novels, educational games and activities, the school library, centers and stations, and individual teacher resources.  Students and classroom teachers also receive support from ancillary teachers, the school’s instructional specialist, the school administration, the pastor, and support services including Title I classes.  Activities outside the traditional classroom, including field trips and guest speakers round out the educational experience for our students.

Classroom environments are designed to be age and developmentally appropriate, and to invite students to actively engage in the learning process.  The goal for each teacher is to help students develop a love of learning and truly become life-long learners who will share their school experience with others.
